In A World Of Pure Imagination

The Engineering/Development Department is where the magic happens. We all play different roles, attune to various classes with alternative ways of completing a quest, but we are all spell casters. We are all creating and using magic.

Let me continue with my heavy-handed metaphor if you will and imagine a Jira ticket as a spell (or a curse) and an epic as a quest.

The spell must be deciphered, the curse triaged, the quest laid out. We need to establish how many days journey it will be, what rations we will take and what weapons will be required.

You can send all the most perficient in magic to complete the quest. Really, you want to create a party of multiple classes and fields of vision to have the best chance of completing what you set out to do. It is also valuable to make sure the newer party members have the opportunity to gain experience “XP” as well.

As a party we can react better to changes in the path, rotten food and damage taken along the way. Regardless of how much quest planning we do, it is a roll of a die and the luck of the draw for anything to turn out as expected.

Some spells require longer to adapt to. Some curses spread, halting the parties progress and draining their will.

This is where it continues to be favourable to be a party. Not all the party can cast the spell or subdue the curse. However, we are all capable of understanding, taming and weaving the magic.

Your role regardless of its skill, accomplishment or proficiency can do magic if you let it. You might create sparks that set fire to the tablecloth or summon a dragon that devours the village. Spell or curse, alchemy or witchcraft; roll for initiative, the die is cast.
